Hsinchu Wind Orchestra Performs “Cheng Huang is Coming!” on May 17 and June 1.
As a symbol of justice and guardian of heaven and hell, Du Cheng Huang is always an impressive Taoism god to Taiwan’s people and culture. Moreover, the annual procession circuit of Du Cheng Huang is renowned folk activity before month-long Ghost Festival in Lunar July in Taiwan.

As the key landmark of Hsinchu City, Hsinchu Du Cheng Huang Temple, originally constructed in 1747, has been renovated seven times over the past 260 years, most recently in 1924, and officially designated by Emperor Guand-Shu of the Ching Dynasty to be the highest-ranking Cheng Huang Temple throughout Taiwan. It has usually packed with worshipers and become a religious belief center to the people of the Northern Taiwan. Geographically, it earns the appellation “Hsinchu Cheng Huang Yeh, Peikang Matsu Puo”

The temple also provides the significant reference value for religion, ancient philosophy, history, especially in architecture which is worth of admiration. There are meticulously carved columns and beams under the roof, as well as the magnificent statues of the gods.
