
New Book Release: One day, we go to see you, by Dr. Wei Chih-Hsin and Ms. Alice Peng
A collection of true stories under Reach-Out Program for the Cancer Victims in Hsin Chu General Hospital
The philosophy of end-of-life care remains relatively isolated across clinical settings and cancer patients and their families in Taiwan. Dr. Wei, as an enthusiastic and persistent Head of Hematology and Oncology Department, starts on the project Reach-Out Program for the Cancer Victims from 2006, sponsored by Spirox Education Foundation. Dr. Wei also blogs stories on the web log which is used for exchanging information of cancer, volunteers training, and 7C cancer ward and Hospice Home Care Services with support from his team members. Two years later, he put those stories into a collection and published by May 8, 2008.
Through the stories of life and death, this book provides case studies for various cancer patient care issues such as legal and ethical concerns, communication, symptom control, bereavement and suicide. This book focus on closing the gaps between how we actually die and how we wish our lives would end. It also serves as a travel guide to make cancer patients better life with hospice, palliative care and hospice home care and support their families as well.
